They are delivered electronically, making them an easy option for birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, and other special occasions.

During checkout, enter the gift card code in the designated field. The available balance will automatically be applied to your order.

At this time, Salt & Steel does not offer gift wrapping or personalized gift messages.

Many Salt & Steel ring designs are adjustable, making sizing easier than with traditional fixed-size rings.

Yes. Salt & Steel accepts custom jewelry commissions.

Every commissioned piece is handcrafted using traditional metalsmithing techniques rather than CAD or computer-generated manufacturing. Subtle variations and organic details are part of what makes each piece one of a kind.

Sales tax is applied where required by law. Applicable tax is calculated automatically during checkout based on the order and delivery location.

Most Salt & Steel orders ship through USPS Standard Shipping for a flat rate of approximately $5.95.

Because each piece is handcrafted and made to order, please allow up to three weeks for production before your jewelry ships.

Once shipped, standard USPS delivery typically takes 3–5 business days, although delivery can occasionally take up to 10 business days depending on location and carrier delays.

At this time, Salt & Steel ships within the United States only. International shipping is not currently available.

Yes. Every Salt & Steel order includes tracking.

Once your shipping label is created, you will receive a shipping confirmation email containing your USPS tracking number.

Non-custom pieces may be returned for a refund within 30 days of purchase, provided they are returned in good condition.

To begin a return, email us with your name, reason for the return, and the transaction number associated with your purchase. The item must be received before a refund can be completed.

Refunds may take up to 10 business days from the date the returned item is received. Shipping costs and transaction fees associated with the return are the purchaser’s responsibility.

Refunds can only be issued to the original payment method. Commissioned pieces are final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged.

Standard orders may be canceled within three days of purchase.

After that time, materials may already have been sourced and production may have begun. Custom orders cannot be canceled once they have been placed.

If a piece is listed as out of stock or unavailable, please email us. We may be able to create the piece specifically for you.

Made-to-order pieces may require up to three weeks for production, plus approximately one week for shipping.

Salt & Steel pieces are made from solid metals that naturally change over time. Patina is a normal part of how brass and sterling silver age and is something many customers enjoy.

Brass

Salt & Steel brass pieces are solid brass, not plated. Brass may darken or develop patina over time. Some wearers may notice a temporary green mark on the skin, which washes away.

Sterling Silver

Sterling silver can tarnish naturally. A Sunshine® Polishing Cloth can restore brightness while preserving the oxidized details that are characteristic of Salt & Steel designs.

Avoid silver-dipping solutions, as they can remove the aged finish and make the piece excessively bright.

Gold-Filled

Gold-filled jewelry does not tarnish as quickly as brass or silver. If it begins to lose its luster, clean it gently with mild soap and water.

Sterling silver and gold-filled pieces can generally be worn in the shower. Prolonged exposure to standing water, humidity, chemicals, lotions, and soaps may still affect the finish over time.

To preserve your jewelry, dry it thoroughly and store it in a dry location when it is not being worn.

Store your jewelry in a dry location away from prolonged humidity and standing water.

If you prefer a brighter finish, use a Sunshine® Polishing Cloth at home or contact Salt & Steel for professional polishing.

Yes. Professional polishing is available for previously purchased Salt & Steel pieces.

Professional polishing is $40 per piece. Discounted pricing may be available when several pieces are polished together.

Please email us before mailing your jewelry. Include your name, email address, return shipping address, and a brief description of the service you are requesting.

We recommend having Salt & Steel jewelry cleaned by our studio whenever possible.

Because we understand the materials, finishes, and techniques used in each design, we can preserve the distinctive details and character of the piece.

There is no required schedule. It depends on how frequently you wear the jewelry and whether you prefer a bright finish or a naturally aged patina.

A Sunshine® Polishing Cloth is an easy option for occasional home care between professional polishing appointments.

Yes. Salt & Steel offers repairs for previously purchased jewelry.

Each repair is evaluated individually. Depending on the condition of the piece, we may repair or replace it, based on the most practical and cost-effective option.

Please email photos and a brief description of the damage to request an assessment.

Repair pricing depends on the damage, required materials, and labor involved.

Repairable pieces typically cost between $20 and $100, plus shipping. An estimate will be provided before work begins.

If a piece cannot be repaired, replacement at a discounted rate may be available in exchange for the damaged item.

Most repairs are completed within approximately three weeks. Timing may vary depending on the repair and the current studio workload.

Salt & Steel uses guidance from organizations including Ethical Metalsmiths, MJSA, and the Responsible Jewelry Council to make more informed decisions about materials and production.

Wire and sheet metal are purchased through a major U.S. jewelry supplier whose home facility is powered by solar energy. Stone and finding suppliers are selected based on responsible sourcing and established codes of ethics.

Packaging practices continue to evolve as Salt & Steel works toward incorporating more environmentally conscious shipping materials.

Because commissioned jewelry is created specifically for each client, custom pieces are final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged.

We collaborate closely throughout the design process to ensure you feel confident before the piece is completed.

Yes. If you are interested in a previously commissioned design, please reach out to discuss the project.

Because each piece is handcrafted, every version will have subtle variations while remaining true to the original design.

The client owns the physical jewelry purchased. The design and its intellectual property remain with Salt & Steel.

This allows the artist to continue developing and evolving the brand’s original work.

Yes. Many existing Salt & Steel designs can be adapted through changes to metals, stones, proportions, finishes, or other details.

In most cases, Salt & Steel does not work with customer-supplied stones.

Certain calibrated round cabochons or calibrated faceted gemstones may be suitable, depending on the project. Please contact us before placing a commission so the stone can be evaluated.

Yes. Repairs for commissioned jewelry are evaluated individually, and an estimate will be provided before any work begins.

Many commissioned pieces can be resized after completion.

The minimum opening wholesale order is $500.

Yes. Wholesale reorders require a minimum purchase of $1,000.

Wholesale production generally takes one to two months because every piece is handcrafted to order.
