About Salt & Steel
Salt & Steel is a small independent jewelry studio creating sculptural pieces inspired by organic forms, weathered surfaces, and the quiet beauty found in natural materials.
Working primarily with sterling silver, brass, natural stones, and mixed metals, the studio creates jewelry that feels elemental, strong, and deeply personal. From statement earrings to textured rings and one-of-a-kind pieces, each design is intended to become a lasting part of the wearer's collection and everyday life.
Based in New Orleans, and led by artist and metalsmith Tiffany Chana Asraf, the brand combines traditional metalsmithing practices with a contemporary perspective, exploring metal as both a craft and artistic medium to create small-batch jewelry that transforms sculptural ideas into wearable objects.
Handmade in New Orleans by Tiffany Chana Asraf
For more than twelve years, Tiffany Chana Asraf has worked with metal as both a craft and artistic medium, exhibiting her work in New Orleans, New York, Kentucky, Austin, and Chicago.
Approaching jewelry as small-scale sculpture, the designer behind Salt & Steel Jewelry utilizes techniques that range from modified found objects and sculpted wax to traditional hand fabrication to create pieces that feel elemental and deeply tactile.
Every purchase directly supports independent craftsmanship, and Tiffany is genuinely grateful to everyone who has supported Salt & Steel—past, present, and future.
Ethics, Sustainability & Impact
Creating jewelry responsibly is an ongoing process, not a finish line.
As a small independent jeweler, Salt & Steel is committed to making thoughtful decisions about sourcing, production, and materials whenever possible.
Organizations such as Ethical Metalsmiths, MJSA, and the Responsible Jewelry Council provide valuable guidance that helps shape how materials are selected and how the business continues to evolve.
