A one-of-a-kind ring created using emeralds from a pendant given to the client by her grandmother.
The original pendant held deep sentimental value, but its design did not reflect the client’s personal style. The stones were transformed into a custom ring influenced by elements of Pre-Columbian artwork, allowing her to carry the family history in a piece she could wear with confidence.

14-Karat Yellow Gold · Blue Star Sapphire
A custom stacking engagement ring set designed around a sculptural curved band and an oval sapphire gemstone, created to nest together.
This minimal two-ring engagement set was designed to resemble the sun and the moon coming together, with the blue sapphire representing the moon. The curve of one ring is designed to fit perfectly against the ring with the stone. Both pieces are dainty and lightweight.
14-Karat Gold . Soybean
A custom pair of brass drop earrings featuring sculptural openwork forms that cradle natural actual soybeans.
A meaningful gift for a client's wife, celebrating their background as soybean farmers. The design incorporates actual soybeans saved from their very first harvest. The 14-karat gold cage features a hammered texture and a slight patina combined with a high shine to look both high-end and earthy. Additionally, the cage was crafted into a subtle bottle shape as a nod to the couple's homemade winemaking hobby. The earrings are lightweight yet bold.

A handcrafted sterling silver cicada pendant featuring a bezel-set green gemstone and hand-forged dangling accents.
This custom piece was created for a client whose wife prefers necklaces and earrings over rings, but who loved my signature cicada ring design. The necklace features a malachite stone at the top and delicate dangles at the bottom, and it is paired with matching earrings.
Sterling Silver . Gold Plated Brass
A custom brass brooch pendant created for the Krewe members, featuring personalized lettering and an unique design.
This large, custom family crest piece was created for Mardi Gras 2025 for the King of Mystic Krewe of Hermes. The design features the King’s crown at the top, his twin daughters on either side, a central swan, and his dog alongside a utility tower at the bottom (representing his role as head of the New Orleans utility department). Following the tradition of gifting "favors" to Krewe members, the original silver piece was used to create a mold to produce 100 gold-plated replicas. The versatile piece can be worn as either a pin or a pendant.
Because commissioned pieces are created specifically for each client, they are considered final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged.
In some cases, yes. A commissioned design may be recreated or adapted in the future when appropriate and with consideration for the original client and project.
Clients own the finished piece they purchase. The original design and its intellectual property remain with Salt & Steel and the artist who developed it.
Yes. Existing designs may be adapted through changes to materials, stones, proportions, finishes, or other details. Reach out to discuss what you have in mind and whether the requested changes are possible.
In many cases, yes. Customer-provided stones and heirloom materials are considered individually based on their condition, size, structure, and suitability for the proposed design.
Yes. Salt & Steel can assess commissioned pieces for repair. Available options and costs will depend on the condition of the piece and the work required.
